Dark Matter

This week we will be looking at the matter that makes up the majority of the universe, otherwise known as 'dark matter'.

Dark matter has never been observed so how exactly how do we know it is there at all? By observing the effects it has.

Imagine a merry-go-round with stars attached to it being the middle of a galaxy. We all know that gravity keeps the stars attached to the merry-go-round. If the gravity was not there it would fly off of the merry-go-round into space. Sound normal right? Except its not because the gravity needed to hold the stars together is too much so the stars should be flying off. But they are not as if some invisible force is holding them together. So scientists have names this mysterious force 'dark matter'.

So we can use what we see to understand what we cant see.

Keep Learning and Have a Great Day,
Quantum Mechanics Enthusiast,
